When a rebrand meets a redesign: reshaping a mature e‑commerce operations platform

About

IDEA Center is a mature e‑commerce operations platform built by IDEA commerce, a Polish company with 13 years on the e‑commerce market. The platform connects orders, warehouse, shipping, finance, and integrations with couriers, marketplaces, and payment systems into one operational panel for online retailers. As the product evolved over the years, the experience needed to catch up with a new brand direction, a broader product ecosystem, and the growing need for easier adoption, development, and scale. We designed the platform’s design system and applied it to a curated set of reference views. The work modernized the visual language, structure, and interaction patterns, while keeping the existing user flow that the company’s customers had been working in for years.

Why this mattered

A mature platform cannot keep scaling if the interface holds it back. IDEA Center is an established operations platform with deep functionality, and its interface no longer fully supported the way the product needed to be sold, adopted, developed, or perceived as part of the broader IDEA commerce ecosystem.

  • Align the product experience with the new brand direction across the IDEA commerce ecosystem
  • Lower the barrier to entry for new e‑commerce businesses adopting the platform
  • Make the platform feel more professional, current, and credible at enterprise scale
  • Create a design foundation that supports faster development of new modules and features
Why this mattered

The design challenge

The challenge was to modernize a mature platform that customers had been using for years, while keeping its operational depth intact. The redesign also had to support future product development across multiple modules, with a foundation flexible enough to evolve.

  • Modernizing a mature platform with active customers and deep workflows
  • Aligning operational depth with the new brand direction across the IDEA commerce ecosystem
  • Welcoming new users into a system that keeps its existing flow intact
  • Designing reference views that represent the breadth of a complex product
The design challenge

Design decisions

We built a design system covering the full product ecosystem, and applied it to a curated set of reference views chosen to represent the breadth of the product (orders, warehouse, products, finance). The reference views let the team see how the system performs across different module types, while the rest of the platform stays in its existing flow until each module is ready to adopt the system at its own pace.

  • Design system covering components, layouts, hierarchy, and visual language across the product ecosystem
  • Reference views designed across representative modules (orders, warehouse, products, finance)
  • Visual language aligned with the new IDEA commerce brand direction
  • Foundation that lets each module adopt the system independently and at its own pace

What it enabled

The redesign gives the platform a system to grow with. The design system and reference views give IDEA Center a current, professional, enterprise-ready visual language, while keeping the existing flow intact for users who have been working in the platform for years. The platform team has a working foundation for evolving each module independently, and the IDEA commerce ecosystem has a consistent design direction to apply across other products as they’re developed.

  • The design system carries a current, professional, enterprise-ready visual language
  • New users can enter the platform through a clearer, more modern surface
  • Existing users continue working in the flow they already know
  • The platform team can evolve each module independently, with a consistent foundation across the IDEA commerce ecosystem
